Star-shl - Together for health

The COVID-19 crisis is leaving deep scars in our society and in healthcare. For Star-shl, it was a challenge to keep diagnostics safe and accessible in 2020. We quickly implemented blood collection by appointment and various forms of COVID-19 diagnostics, and we set up our services and blood collection points in a COVID-proof manner. Many customers indicated that, in this way, we were able to meet their needs and those of the patients.

The COVID-19 crisis has delayed some planned innovations, while other projects and services have developed with lightning speed. In this Innovation Annual Report you will also find innovations that are a direct consequence of the COVID-19 crisis. We will take these experiences with us into the new year with a greater focus on innovating together.

Star-shl likes to look ahead and wants to be at the forefront of developments in diagnostics and care. Both in the new state-of-the-art laboratory and in our knowledge centre, the central focus is on fast, efficient and reliable diagnostics for the patient. We achieve this by investing in innovation, sharing knowledge and developing new applications. By participating in scientific research and in new collaborations within the entire healthcare chain, we will also set up new innovation projects and finish other ones in 2021.

More about Star-shl

Everyone who comes to us has questions about health. Questions that we answer with reliable medical diagnostics.

There is a personal story behind every diagnosis. Therefore, we believe that every question deserves our special attention for a clear and reliable answer.

We specialise in laboratory testing, imaging and function testing such as X-rays, ultrasonography and fundus photography, and we carry out examinations of heart and lung functions. Our anticoagulation clinic assists over 30,000 patients every year with the use of anticoagulants. Our locations for blood collection and other examinations are spread across the south-west of the Netherlands, so that we are always close by. And if necessary, we also make home visits.

Star-shl employees support and advise professionals such as general practitioners, midwives and healthcare institutions. Our experienced nurse practitioners support patients with chronic conditions in many GP practices.

Star-shl’s modern laboratories and diagnostic centres have extensive diagnostic testing facilities. Thanks to our logistics network and the use of innovative digital technology, our test results are available quickly. In this way, we contribute to strong, accessible and efficient healthcare.
